Some exclusive shots of novel applications from Wave 4– Windows Live Messenger 2010 and Live Writer 2010, captured by the guys at Neowin, have been revealed early this month. The latest version of the Windows Live Messenger focuses on social networking and updates delivery in the sidebar, whereas the Windows Live Writer 2010 will deal with a ribbon menu that is popularly used in Office products like Office 2010, creating rich text posts and easy writing.
WLM 2010 looks to be very promising as it has changed the set up for viewing contacts. The left hand side has a “social stream” of updates provided live by Windows Live. They are updates from Messenger contacts and the data is retrieved simultaneously by Windows Live. WLM aims to integrate this information which is now present at the top of a conversation window, by using its “social stream”, thus exhibiting the contacts’ updates, new blogs from Facebook/Twitter, etc.

The introduction of the in-built tabbed messenger conversations in WLM 2010 by Microsoft can be termed as one of the major improvements of WLM 2010. Since it was in demand for years, it has finally found a place but the IEB tab design looks a bit outdated in the Messenger UI.
An official launch of Windows Live Wave 4 will be done in Q1 of 2010 in the public beta form, at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2010.
