MSN joint collaboration with NBC Local Media and Hearst Television for Local News clips, has already heated up the portal wars. This business venture is expected to give MSN around 3000 news video clips across 36 local media markets. MSN has already undergone a renovation by adding smart media veterans, and this has led to heated portal wars as Yahoo, MSN, AOL, and CNN are all getting serious with content business on local news.
Available from January 2010, the new video content will provide an amazing opportunity for MSN with local and video coverage, because the local online advertising can fetch up to $10 billion of revenues by 2013. The statistics observed by the company reveal that, about 62% of online adults watch online videos and about 35% watch online television shows or movies.

The NBC local media will cover areas of Chicago, New York, Washington, DC, San Francisco/Bay Area, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, , Connecticut, and Miami, for their video clips from “locals only” websites.
Hearst Television will cover areas of Boston, Albuquerque, Baltimore, Burlington, VT / Plattsburgh, NY; Cincinnati, Des Moines, Ft. Smith, AR; Greensboro / Winston-Salem, NC; Greenville, SC; Honolulu, Jackson, MS; Kansas City, Lancaster / Harrisburg, PA; Louisville, Manchester, NH; Milwaukee, Monterey, CA; New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Portland, ME; Sacramento, and West Palm Beach.
