In a a bizarre turn of events, Twitter, world’s most popular micro-blogging service was hacked by a group calling themselves ‘Iranian Cyber Army’. This was first reported at around 0600 GMT on 18th Dec.
Twitter’s official blog has responded to confirm the news. “As we tweeted a bit ago, Twitter’s DNS records were temporarily compromised tonight but have now been fixed,” the site’s co-founder Biz Stone wrote on the blog.
“We will update with more information and details once we’ve investigated more fully,”
There is, however, no solid proof of that fact that the hackers originate out of Iran. The presence of Iaranian flag on the image left and some Farsi script claims to prove along those lines. It says-
“U.S.A. Think They Controlling And Managing Internet By Their Access, But They Don’t, We Control And Manage Internet By Our Power, So Do Not Try To Stimulation Iranian Peoples To,” the text said.
“NOW WHICH COUNTRY IN EMBARGO LIST? IRAN? USA? WE PUSH THEM IN EMBARGO LIST. Take Care,” it read.
One thing that has to be noted is the controversy generated back in June during Iran’s general elections. Iranian government criticized the role of Twitter in organizing protests against president’s party.
